Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take insurance?
The short answer is no. Because Kentucky is an unlicensed state for Naturopathic Doctors, I am unable to submit office bills for reimbursement.

Is this type of treatment safe with my conventional treatments?
Yes it is. Most of the treatments I use are safely combined with conventional treatments. My training from a four year medical school included education regarding conventional medicines and the integration of holistic modalities to foster true healing.

Will I have to change my diet?
I often suggest dietary changes as a component of the overall lifestyle transformation to achieve a balanced state of health. These recommendations are specific to each individual patient.

What kind of lab testing do you do?
Because Kentucky does not license Naturopaths, I am unable to directly order many of the conventional lab tests. I do frequently ask to see your most recent lab work from your primary care doctor. I will also when necessary, suggest some alternative lab testing as and adjunct to the lab work from your conventional doctor.

Can you be my primary care doctor?
Even though my education and training qualifies me to fill this role, the restrictions of practicing in an unlicensed state prohibit me from being your only healthcare provider. I do recommend that all patients have a primary care doctor they visit at least 1 time per year.

What is the difference between Homeopathy and Naturopathy?
Homeopathy is just 1 of the possible treatment modalities I am qualified to use through my training as a Naturopathic Doctor. I do specialize in Homeopathy, but also embrace western herbs, orthomolecular nutrition (vitamins and supplements), hydrotherapy, and naturopathic physical medicine.

How frequently do I need to come to see you?
After your initial visit, we will typically follow-up with our treatment plan 2 to 4 weeks later. Depending on the initial progress and treatment regimen we will meet again in 4 to 8 weeks for further evaluation. As progress continues, the time between visits will increase. Ultimately, a healthy individual would check in 1 to 2 times a year or as needed. Acute cases will typically require more frequent visits.

Do you make house calls?
I am happy to make house calls as well as visits to the hospital. I charge the standard rate for mileage from my office.

What if there is an emergency?
Please call 911 if there is a life threatening emergency. I am 100% accessible to my established patients, by email or phone. If after calling 911 you are able, please call me so we can begin acute homeopathic care.

What types of Natural treatments will you give me?
Most of my patients are given a homeopathic remedy, in addition to some other treatment plans individual to their case. Patients will also often be referred to other specialists to support the overall goal of health.
